    After many manipulations of dates and space availability, we have finally signed a contract
    for SWING EXPO 2000. Disregard previous information as this is the final choice. The NEW
    FRONTIER HOTEL will be the home of SWING EXPO. The dates are January 14-16.  1 am
    working on the possibility of having our Thursday dance at Gilley's Dance hall. Those of you
    who have come to club on Monday night, know what a great dance floor and sound system
    they have. It would be perfect for the Thursday dance and our out of town guests wouldn't
    have to worry about transportation. The convention center is so new, it is still under
    construction with an expected completion date of November, 1999. This is so exciting for all
    of us. We will now be right on the strip and next to the Fashion Show Mail, another plus.
    Please spread the word.

    Club is still meeting every Monday night at Gilley's and it gets bigger and better each week.
    The music and the great dance floor keep the dancer there beyond our 9:30 closing. Lance,
    the DJ, not only plays the best of our music but has some great western times suitable for
    swing. If you haven't been there yet, get up a party and join us for an evening of great food,
    even greater music, and the greatest dance floor. Some members still want to dance on
    Sunday so we are searching for a place to suit everyone's liking. Remember, club can only
    succeed with your attendance. We don't show up in number, we don't get the place to dance.
    It's that simple.
 

    Don't forget to renew your membership. Single member, $20, married couple, $30.
    More important, be at Gilley's on Monday nights 6:30-9:30. We need you there!

NEW ORLEANS (AP)  That's one small step  maybe a foxtrot  for ballroom
dancing in the Olympics.

In another move toward placing the tango alongside the 100-meter dash in the
games, the U.S. Olympic Committee on Saturday granted affiliated status to
the United States Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association.

The change in status puts the USOC on the same level as the International
Olympic Committee, which recognized ballroom dancing as a potential Olympic
sport several years ago.

That's still a long way from having dancers in the games, but Saturday's
action makes the dance association eligible for USOC training and assistance
grants.

The USOC also gave full Olympic status to the U.S. Taekwondo Union.
