Western Barn Dance Review
by Sue Williamson,
Activities Committee Chairman

Another success story!  You people are really a lot of fun.  You all do such a good job of participating in our  "theme" parties.  The clothes are always perfect and you always do so well with our mixers and contests.  Thank you!

For those unlucky ones who couldn't be at the dance, here's a quick recap:

Your sheriff's badge souvenir to complement your western wear, compliments of Bill Hatton

Your vittles to satisfy your munchies were compliments of the Activities Committee as a whole.

Your "best music in town" was compliments of our fabulous DJ, Phil Crawford.

Your pictures were compliments of our great photographer, Mike Strong.

Your door prizes and contest prizes were compliments of Bill Hatton.

Who won those contests?

Two-Step Contest was a tie between Randy & Phyllis Every and Dana & Larry Cooper.  (Pretty impressive dancing!  Yahoo!)

Costume Contest was won by Cathie and Ron Dunn (Good lookin' outfits!)

The Barn Dance mixer was, frankly, more fun than I ever expected.  Maybe we'll try it again sometime.  The "Scotch, Rye & Whiskey" mixer got more complicated this time because all of you are getting too good!  Randy Every & Mary Carrington were the winners.  Gotta keep a step ahead of you guys.  We were only about ten shy of our number from our last big party, the Luau, so those of you who like some fun, COME ON DOWN next time.  Give it a try!

WHAT'S THE NEXT ACTIVITY PLANNED
Remember, Club Night Out is still on Tuesday evenings at the Radisson at 87th and I-35.  this is such a good time to practice with every level of dancer, which means we al automatically get better ourselves without even realizing it.  This is the "best game in town" on Tuesday nights, so COME ON UP to Radcliff's at the top of the Radison

The holiday season is upon us, so a lot of other things are going on now with each of you.  Therefore, the next party event is New Year's Eve.  Why the Swing Dance Club on New Year's Eve?  The reasons I can think of are that we don't have to be around rude, drunk people that we don't even know; that we can dance to music we want and like; and that it is a safe place to be on such a festive night.  This is the time of year, I've noticed from the past, that we can bring out our fineries from our closets, so let's emphasize that this year.  If you have no other plans put us on your calendar.

We have a HUGE bash planned for February that EVERYONE will want to attend!  Too much fun!

We're still working on a date for our St. Louis Club Exchange by train.  Dates are the only hold up, so be looking for this to happen soon.

The BIGGEST THANK YOU ever to every single one of you who contributed to the hospitality room at the Heartland Dance Festival.  What a spread!  Thanks again.  You're the greatest!  June Rush thinks so, too, since she was in charge of this event.
